Some switches control the existence of bridges, to enable Keen to get from one place to another. Bridges can also be deactivated when an enemy is standing on one, with interesting results.

Extra Life Item
Grab an icon of Commander Keen or other items to receive and extra life. In each different episode, a certain amount of points will also get you a new life. The amounts is usually 20,000 points.
Gems are used to open doors found in various levels in Keens 4-6. To open a door, just carry the gem to an appropriate gem holder in the vicinity of the door. Keen knows all about the gems and will put them in the holder.

Goodbye Galaxy!: The Armageddon Machine Other
The fifth episode in the Commander Keen Saga, and second and last in the Goodbye Galaxy! series. Keen must stop the Shikadi from destroying the Galaxy by disabling the Omegamatic.
Creative Director. He is one of the most well known makers of Keen and the supposed best hope for The Universe is Toast series. After working at numerous other companies, he now created a company called Monkeystone with John Romero, however he now works at Midway.
These little people are from the secret level in episode five. They just push you along. One shot stuns them. Some people call them Goplats, Scotties, or Koraths. They got the name Goplat from the well-known error that closes the game in easy mode in version 1.0 upon the entry of that level, but Goplat actually refers to a platform that follows a specific path, which is what caused the error.

Laser Hazard
A dangerous beam of light that a machine shoots at you. Be careful around them, because you never know when they could shoot!

Little Ampton Creature
This purple fellow slides up and down poles and works on his computer terminals. Don't be on a pole he's on, 'cause he slides up and down quickly! You can't stun him in Keen GBC.
Commander Keen's arch-nemesis. Mortimer is usually behind all the schemes to destroy the universe or take things over. He has been known by some species as the the Gannalech or Grand Intellect.

Mid-Air Pogo Other
You can pull out your pogo stick in the middle of a normal jump, giving you good control of that first jump.
Commander Keen's weapon of choice in Keen 4-6. The gun fires a green blast of energy, stunning anything that happens to get in the way. You have a limited amount of shots so be sure to collect them if you happen to find one in a level. They are worth 5 ammo.

Omegamatic Location
The Shikadi's device that they plan on using to destroy the Galaxy with. Keen must destroy/disable it in Keen 5.
Platforms are a major convenience- even a necessity on Fribbulus Xax. In most places they are used to transport you over dangerous obstacles, or to places out of reach. Many of the platforms(or "plats" as the locals call them) are still the old style which are operated by Bips. Other types of platforms occur on other planets as well.
Commander Keen uses his pogo stick to reach otherwise inaccessible places. In Keen GBC, you use the pogo to knock out your enemies after you have stunned them with the Neural Ray Blaster.
Last Level in Keen 5 that has the Shikadi Master in it. The QED isn't simply another level either. It is also a machine which Keen must destroy to disable the Omegamatic.

Red Lights Hazard

Robo Red Creature
Robo Red is a nasty guard. If he hears a sound, he shoots first and asks questions later. Avoid, avoid, avoid! Able to defeat in Keen GBC, but not in Keen 5.
The slicestar is a crystalline being with razor-sharp points. Don't get near 'em! These stars seem invincible... to a point. If you fire 20 shots at one going up and down, it'll go *poof* and basically disappear. If you fire 50 shots at the slicestar that randomly bounces, you will achieve the same effect.
This gray guy has a magnetic personality. His presence is electrifying. You'll be shocked when you see him! Watch out when he "charges!"

Sphereful Creature
Frightful plasma orbs with orbiting diamond sensors, tread carefully by these dangerous denizens. The Keen 5 version is immune to your laser shots, but you can kill the GBC version.

Spindred Creature
Spindred slam angrily at the floor and ceiling. They'll crush you quicker than... something quick.

A swastika made of pipes was put in the original version of Keen V, in the Energy Flow Systems level to foreshadow iD Software's next project, "Wolfenstein 3D". This Nazi symbol was removed from later versions of Keen V due to complaints

Switches Other
Switches in Keen 1 and 3 only control lights and bridges; switches in Keen 4-6 only activate/deactivate platforms and bridges. Switches in K6 can be jumped or pogoed off, just as they are flicked downwards.
Keen 1 and Keen 3: The teleporters found on the maps of the games and teleport you to other locations. Keen 5: A teleportation device is hidden in the Gravitational Damping Hub of Keen 5. It leads to the bonus level on the planet of Korath III, the Secret Korath III Base. There is another return-teleporter on the map of Korath III. Keen 6: A teleporter that teleports you to an "underground" portion of Keen VI. Keen GBC: When Commander Keen uses one of these, he pops out of another one in a different area of the level in Keen GBC.
The proposed trilogy of Commander Keen that never quite got off the ground. The Trilogy was called the Universe is Toast and would have been Keen Episodes 7-9. The project was mainly shelved by ID due to more popular games like Doom and Wolfenstein 3D.
